Green Code Eco Slab®

Construction workers installing reinforcement and void formers for climate ceiling on large construction site

A Prefabricated Slab Element

The Green Code Eco Slab® is an industrially prefabricated, reinforced slab element. It consists of a metal formwork-smooth concrete panel with integrated truss connectors, load-bearing longitudinal reinforcement, minimum transverse reinforcement, and potentially integrated punching shear reinforcement, as well as void formers made from 100% recycled polypropylene – the so-called GC box. The box comprises a factory-installed base (GC base) and a site-completed cover (GC top).

The prefabricated concrete elements enable quick installation and eliminate expensive formwork systems, significantly reducing construction time. Following assembly and the installation of additional reinforcement, as well as the curing of in-situ concrete, a structurally two-way spanning, monolithic ceiling system is created.

The key advantages are the cost efficiency of the system: through the void formers, up to 25% of in-situ concrete is saved, reducing the dead load of the slab as well by up to 25%. The elements are individually planned and manufactured according to project requirements and are particularly suitable for slabs with high structural demands. Planning and production are conducted under strict quality criteria.

The Green Code Eco Slab® is delivered to the construction site ready-assembled with the integrated GC base. Following the assembly of the slab elements, technical components for lighting, acoustics, climate, and/or ventilation can be easily added. The upper part of the box is then securely and simply closed with the GC top. This is accomplished by snapping the two parts together via a patented connection that reliably prevents the element from floating up during concreting. As with a conventional precast slab, reinforcement layers are then installed.

The Advantages

The advantages of Green Code Eco Slab® extend far beyond material savings. Automated planning and production processes, supported by state-of-the-art BIM technologies and robot-assisted manufacturing, ensure maximum efficiency – both at the factory and on the construction site.

  • Up to 60% fewer workers required on site
  • Up to 40% shorter construction times
  • Efficient stackability of elements for maximum truck load capacity
  • Simple and seamless assembly

Particularly suitable for:

  • Administrative and office buildings
  • Hotel buildings
  • Agricultural buildings
  • Basement rooms and underground garages
  • Multi-story residential buildings
  • Large span widths
